Who is responsible

carvin.io is run by WEB SEO DEV (Romania). For questions about personal data write to [email protected].

carVIN is a VIN check guide. We do not sell reports: carVertical sells the vehicle history report through our partner links. The site has no user accounts, contact forms, comments or newsletter. This policy also covers the German and Czech app pages (/de/, /cz/).

What data we process and why

Server logs. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. On every visit Cloudflare receives your IP address, browser data, the page requested and the time, to deliver the pages and protect them against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a site that is available and secure.

Google Tag Manager. The English and German pages load Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited), which can set Google Ads conversion and Google Analytics cookies. These services receive your IP address, browser data and the pages you visit. You can block or delete the cookies in your browser settings.

VIN and plate number. When you enter a VIN (on the Czech page also a plate number) and press the button, your browser sends it directly to carVertical through our partner link, together with codes that show you came from carVIN. carVIN does not store the VINs or plate numbers you enter. What carvertical.com does with your data is described in carVertical's privacy policy.

E-mails. If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply and keep them only as long as needed for that.

Who receives data

Data only reaches the providers above (Cloudflare, Google, carVertical), each in the role described. Some of them may process data outside the European Union with the safeguards of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). We do not sell personal data.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability. Use them by writing to [email protected]. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.

Changes

We update this page when what the site does changes. The date of the last update is shown above.

Where is the VIN?

Car with arrows to the VIN: the corner of the windscreen and the driver's door pillar
  1. In the registration certificate: field E in EU countries.
  2. Behind the windscreen, in the lower corner on the driver's side: readable from outside.
  3. On the driver's door pillar, on the factory sticker.
  4. On the body: stamped in the engine bay or under a seat (varies by model).

The VIN has 17 characters and never contains I, O or Q. Check that the papers and the car show the same number.

No VIN yet?

  1. Ask the seller for it, with a photo of the registration certificate (field E). An honest seller will share it.
  2. Look at the listing photos: the plate behind the windscreen is sometimes visible.
  3. At the viewing, read it on the windscreen or the door pillar and compare it with the papers.

A seller who will not give you the VIN is a warning sign.
